Bethel AME Church

Since its inception in 1879, Bethel has been actively involved in the life of its parishioners. Bethel strongly emphasizes its congregational life. The church continues to maintain the AME traditions. The pastor and members are the life of the church and are involved in political, social, and educational issues. Under the fervent leadership of Pastor Gregory Lordnum, Bethel is currently located at 1814 East 38th Street since the first Sunday in September 1999.

Purpose

The ultimate purposes are to make available God’s biblical principles, spread Christ’s liberating gospel, and provide continuing programs which will enhance the entire social development of all people.

In order to meet the needs of every level of the Connection and in every local church, the AME Church shall implement strategies to train all members in Christian discipleship, Christian leadership, current teaching methods and materials, the history and significance of the AME Church, God’s biblical principles, and social development to which all should be applied to daily living.

Mission

We have purposed as our Mission the desire to lead by faith even when we cannot see. It is through our Faith in God's Word that we become an oasis for our community.

We, the members of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church pledge as our goal:

To reach out to those who do not know the power of our Lord and Savior in their lives and as keepers of their souls. Our endeavor is to set spiritual standards by which we all can live and inspire others to prosper through the word of God. We will provide food for the hungry, water for the thirsty, and resources through spiritual, social and financial growth that will reach beyond the doors of our church.

We will accomplish our mission by turning memberships into discipleship. It is through the power of God's blessings that we affirm our mission to LEAD, DRAW, AND TURN lost souls to Christ.

Vision

My vision is to lead with untiring purpose. We will grow our church family by helping those in need. To feed the hungry, and clothe the naked must become a reality.
